Friends: Medicine For Everything

Day 9-A picture of your friends

Here are some people I have thought a lot about recently! And, I found good pictures of. I love ALL of my friends. Have SO many of them. I miss lots of them.

Cheri, Jacob, Me, Shaun- We laugh together a lot. Shut up and Bake? That's us.

Ryan Hartley- Do I need to say anything? This picture explains a lot. (and I just got to see him this last week. It was pure happiness.)

Elizabeth Ward- She is beautiful, fun, always there and has great advice. I love her! Best friend.

Cheri Peacock! I would not love SUU as much as I do if I did not have her! She is the best thing ever!

And, of course, my family! Love them much. Mom's going to not like this picture. But I like it!

The Ultimate Time Waster

Day 11-Favorite TV shows

I can't say I never watch TV. However, I did not grow up with television at home. My parents said that we could find better things to do with our time than sit in front of the telly. Which, I would have to agree with. Yes, I did complain about not having it all of the time. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate it now and want to have the same thing in my future home. There are so many things on television that are crude, vulgar, disrespectful, and just degrading. However, there are also some things that can be great. I hear about these cooking shows that I would love to sit and watch. However, since I don't care enough, nowhere that I have lived have I had cable. Sometimes, I will sit on my computer, go online and watch shows. So, this is how I have come up with my favorite television shows.

There is only one that I would say I really get SO excited to watch every week. This would be Castle on ABC.

Kate Beckett & Richard Castle

Other than this, I sometimes will watch 24, because lets face it. It can get slightly addicting!

There are no other shows that I feel that I have the need to watch, however sometime I watch other shows on my computer that are semi-interesting because I get bored, I like to procrastinate and waste time and vegetate on my couch instead of going out and being more productive with my time. However, I am limiting myself and making sure I only watch these shows AFTER I get what I need to done.

A Couple of the Many

Day 10-Something you're afraid of

Being home alone!

No matter where I am, if I am alone at a house, I feel like it is a huge mansion, people could be hiding anywhere to hurt me inside of it. I still feel this way about the house I lived in my entire life. Never moved, not once. Still don't like to be there home alone.

Also, I am terrified of spiders. No, I will not add a picture. Why? Because, THEY'RE SCARY!

What else. There is this row of bushed by my house that I grew up by. We have always had a dog. So, usually when I am walking by these bushes it was because I was walking the dog. However, every single time that I walk by these bushes I would cross the street before I got to them. Whether I was with my German Shepherd or my friends. I always thought that some scary man could be hidden in between these bushes and jump out and kidnap me!

I know, I know I have some weird fears and thoughts of things happening to me when I really have nothing to worry about.

Traveling: More to Come This Summer.

Day 8-A place you've traveled to

I haven't traveled very much. Pretty much i've just stayed in California, & now Utah. I like to stick at home. When I have the chance to travel, I would rather just stay home, relax, have some fun, and read a lot.

One vacation that I always will remember is when i was young... probably about 8. My mom and I took the train to Santa Barbara. All I remember about that trip is that I had so much fun and I got my first beanie baby. His name is Bruno, the dog. Yes, I do still have him.

This summer, I will be taking a very exciting vacation. I am going to India! With a program, Rising Star Outreach. I will be there on a leprosy colony helping out. I am so excited to be able to go. However, I have lots of things to do before then! I have to get lots of shots (yippee!) and finish raising money, find my flights and more!

However, I WILL be blogging about my experience here on this blog. I am excited to be able to take pictures, be there, and be involved with something that is different than I have ever been around before. What an opportunity to serve others. I am just so darn excited! What an adventure it will be to share what I have with those who have less. I can't even express my enthusiasm and happiness for this! Yay!

Happiness. The Key to Life.

Day 6-A picture of something that makes you happy

I am cheating. I am posting a couple photos.

This photo is two things to me. Being silly/smiling and hiking/being outdoors!

My family. Look at this picture. This is what we do on family vacations. Hiking, spelunking, rappelling, and LOTS of laughing.

That big bundle of fur that always is happy to see you and always willing to give kisses: dogs. This is Casper, he was so precious. I love German Shepherd's the best, however almost any dog will make me smile!

A Few, Random Ideas

Day 7-Your dream wedding

You would think that since I am a girl, born and raised LDS, I would have thought about my wedding a LOT. But, alas. I have not.

The things that I know.

Where?

HERE (San Diego Temple)
This is the first temple I ever went to & it has a special place in my heart.

My Dress:
I like simple, lace, pretty & NO cap-sleeves.
I want (summer) 3/4 length lace sleeves or (winter) long lace sleeves.
It will be pretty straight down, have some lace on it, be fitted and flattering but never poof out or have a huge long train.
Here is an idea or two:

If I can find some...

This is the closest one that I could find that is similar to something that I would wear. Ignore the sleeves, I do not like the ones on this dress, and I might want a little train, I will figure that out when I actually get a dress! But, here is something that gives a little bit of an idea.

Colors:

I know, I LOVE bright colors. But for my wedding I think I will probably want something a little more subtle. I like this that he's got goin' on here. Maybe add a little light coral to this. I think that would be nice. But, let's be honest. I really have no idea.

These are really all the things about a wedding that I would want that I can think of. I guess, I need a guy as well. Guess I'll work on that!

The Sibs.

Day 5-Your siblings

Yikes! I didn't actually read through the post topics before I said that I was going to do this "30 Day Challenge." Maybe I should have. Oh well!

My siblings. I have two. They're the best! Andrew & Hannah.

This, is Han, the youngest child. She has more self control than almost anyone that I know, young & old. She just made it "en pointe" This is something that she has had the goal do be able to do for as long as I can remember. She has progressed so much and I am excited to be able to see her perform this year!

As I do, she LOVES animals. Especially dogs. Last year, she trained a service dog, Godiva. She was a chocolate lab. Han did such a wonderful job with her, but she couldn't end up being a service dog because of hip problems. So, the family that adopted her is very lucky for the many hours that my wonderful sister put into training her!

Here is Andrew, my older brother. He is the best. I can always remember him being nothing but kind to me through all that I put him through growing up. What a wonderful guy. He has so much patience, I just know that one day he is going to be the most fantastic dad.

He amazes me all the time. If we go on a hike, he could go for hours and hours without a break. He bikes, runs, swims, does triathlons, and more. We ran a 5k not too long ago together and yes, I was very out of shape. I asked him to please stay with me the whole time that I didn't want to run by myself. He promised that he would, as long as I ran the whole time. So, I did. However, there was a long gradual hill at one point. He put his hand on my back (probably because I said I was sick of it) and gave me a little extra boost up the hill. Oh, how I love him. I need to get into better shape so that I can keep up with him!

Alas, there are my siblings. I love them both very much and have VERY different relationships with the both of them. However, I am so happy that my sister and I are becoming closer and closer as life keeps going and we both grow up.

I LOVE YOU HANNAH & ANDREW!

Two in One

I slacked yesterday, so here are Day 3 & 4 in one!

Day 3-Your idea of a perfect first date

This is the hardest question. I am pretty sure that this is something that girls have been asked growing up. As for myself, I have never had an answer. I usually say something stupid just to answer the question, being facetious. A walk on the beach, a romantic dinner. Bleh, so cliche! That disgusts me. I want to do something FUN in which I can get to know you. I would love to go miniature golfing, (something silly where we can have fun and be ourselves) and then hang out maybe get some ice cream and just chat. Laugh, have a good time, be relaxed.

Day 4-Your parents

My parents are the best:
My mom is the best mother anyone could ever ask for. She has been a stay at home mom for my whole life, and always has been there for everything. I can't remember any time having an event, performance, doctors appointment, or something else that she was not there for. She gives up her free time for my siblings and I because that's what she does. She is selfless, loving, beautiful, kind ,generous, patient, along with so much more. I strive to be like her one day.
My dad; 2 words, goofy & caring. I could go to him with anything and know that he would understand, yet he would find a way to make me feel okay about it. He lives to serve others and sometimes doesn't think about himself when he should. I love him so much and am so grateful to him for always caring about me even though I have been INCREDIBLY difficult at times.

Who Knows?

Day 2-Meaning behind your blog name
Now this, this is a hard post to write. Where did I come up with Independence is Essential? No idea. Probably because I love doing things on my own, hate when people try to boss me around, and like to be able to do what I want, when I want! That is the short story of the blog name.
"Nature never said to me: Do not be poor; still less did she say: Be rich; her cry to me was always: Be independent." -Nicolas de Chamfort
Well, this was a short post. As I knew it would be. So long!
