I'm Right. You're Wrong.

The most irritating things in the world.  When people won't let you accept your own knowledge. They tell you you're wrong. When you're NOT!

Lets say, you're having a group discussion. One about a class topic that everyone is encouraged to participate in.  Then,  everyone else just takes one side and decide to go against one person.  Is that person going to ever want to participate again? No. So lets all just take a step back and decide; do we want the other people to participate ever again? Probably.  How can we make them feel comfortable in the situation? Well, for starters, lets stop making stabs at them, telling them they are wrong, and LISTEN!

Critical thinking, what does that mean to you? Thinking about thinking, having those deep thoughts about a subject.  Having deep thoughts, not just the first thing that comes to mind, but really taking the time to understand exactly what this thing is.  If your job was to help me understand how to critically think, would you poke and prod at me and tell me I was wrong? Look at me and say no do this no do this? Isn't critical thinking going to be slightly different for each person? Aren't we going to all have our own ways of going about finding an answer for something.  Just like there are many different ways to drive to the same exact place, you can take many routes and get there.  None of them are "wrong" just different.  So, if your job is to help us think critically, please guide. Don't tell me I am wrong, don't criticize me for having my own opinion.  By doing that, you are proving to me that you do not have an open mind that is willing to think from another perspective.  I won't ever come back to your class.  In fact, I am already tempted to tell you that.

Why shorten words?

First off, I would like to remind you that it was entirely your choice to read this.  That means, no judging allowed.

So, back to the question, why shorten words? Well, it makes life easier. Texting simpler. Talking quicker. Also, it makes life interesting! Hey, lets go to Smi! Doesn't matter that Smith's is only one syllable to start out with.

I love the perf understanding we have of each other and the word choices.  There are only a couple of people that I can talk to with my abbreviations that won't rag on me.

Different people gain joy from different things.  I like weird animals, love to be in the most comfortable clothes with no makeup and just relax with close friends, and abbreviating words.  Some people like eating, others dancing in the rain (which i have to agree i love as well), and others doing accounting. (Which I  must say, I was just in accounting class, and it is NOT something that I love to do!)

So if you didn't know, I love animals.  Traditional as well as non-traditional. My current pets are my bearded dragon, Mushu (yes like in Mulan) and Lily, whom is an adorable medium sized rat.  I love them both.

Jourdan, Mushu and I (November 2010)

Mushu when I got him was only about three inches long from head to end of tail.  he could easily sit on my hand and fit the width with room to spare.  Now, the quickly growing 10 month old child of mine is over a foot long from head to tail! He, whom just recently I actually found out is a she, is sprouting quickly and just becoming as beautiful as ever.  Her color is gorgeous red with orange and yellow undertones.  He is as I found out when I  took him to the vet, a Rankins dragon.  This is some special, slightly smaller dragon, which are not quite as common in the United States, and more often found in Australia.  Lucky me! I have a gem of a little guy!  When I take him out into the sun, his colors get so incredibly bright and his colors are so prominent.  I love him!

Do it. Abbreviate your words. I dare you. Don't be embarrassed.

Life As We Know It

Life moves SO quickly. Everyone gets married and moves on and away. It's crazy. Friends come and go, but some will stay with you forever. I have been thinking a lot lately about keeping in contact with a lot of friends that I have who've moved away. So many of them I rarely think about but there are the ones that I will never want to lose. No matter how far away they live I will always think of them because of certain things. The reason I started this blog is because one of those friends. Her name is Jourdan (Satterfield) Wilson. I love her so much, and LOVE stalking her (three) blogs! I decided that it might be a fun way to write down things about myself, my days, and things that have been on my mind. I think it's a fun way to keep up on people and how they are. It is the perfect way to just have fun and even myself to reflect upon some things I have recently thought about.

Because its true, life moves on and so much changes. People change, leaves change and snow comes and goes. I can't believe that I graduate with my associates degree in less than two months.  That is ridiculous! Soon enough my whole life is going to be changing, I will be moving down to Cedar City to go to SUU, and start a whole new life. Clean slate for me! Very exciting yet I am nervous and wish that I could just take it back and stay here in Salt Lake and go to the U. However, I know the decision that I have made is right so I am going to take it as it comes!

All I want to do lately is just go to the zoo and become best friends with the animals. True story. I think it would be legit! How fun would that be to just hang out with a bunch of animals all day. They are so non-judgmental, cute, funny, entertaining, and tons of fun. Sounds like an awesome time to me.  Just sayin.  So that is my "to do" for as soon as possible. Go to the zoo. Meet some cool animals.  I will post once I go, and yes, of course, there will be pictures!
