So, back to the question, why shorten words? Well, it makes life easier. Texting simpler. Talking quicker. Also, it makes life interesting! Hey, lets go to Smi! Doesn't matter that Smith's is only one syllable to start out with.
I love the perf understanding we have of each other and the word choices. There are only a couple of people that I can talk to with my abbreviations that won't rag on me.
Different people gain joy from different things. I like weird animals, love to be in the most comfortable clothes with no makeup and just relax with close friends, and abbreviating words. Some people like eating, others dancing in the rain (which i have to agree i love as well), and others doing accounting. (Which I must say, I was just in accounting class, and it is NOT something that I love to do!)
So if you didn't know, I love animals. Traditional as well as non-traditional. My current pets are my bearded dragon, Mushu (yes like in Mulan) and Lily, whom is an adorable medium sized rat. I love them both.
Jourdan, Mushu and I (November 2010)
Mushu when I got him was only about three inches long from head to end of tail. he could easily sit on my hand and fit the width with room to spare. Now, the quickly growing 10 month old child of mine is over a foot long from head to tail! He, whom just recently I actually found out is a she, is sprouting quickly and just becoming as beautiful as ever. Her color is gorgeous red with orange and yellow undertones. He is as I found out when I took him to the vet, a Rankins dragon. This is some special, slightly smaller dragon, which are not quite as common in the United States, and more often found in Australia. Lucky me! I have a gem of a little guy! When I take him out into the sun, his colors get so incredibly bright and his colors are so prominent. I love him!
Do it. Abbreviate your words. I dare you. Don't be embarrassed.
