We took a little day trip to Pondicherry! It is right on the beach. A lot more touristy than what we have been around, but still very Indian. There still weren't very Americans that we saw. We were a big attraction to look at and take pictures of. All the parents wanted to take pictures of us with their kids. It's a big deal I guess! We got to meet Lakshmi, the elephant, and be blessed by her! It was fun (although we did have to pay).
We then walked around the town and some people did a lot of shopping, while others of us kind of just looked and had some fun! We ate lunch at this little authentic Italian restaurant owned by Max, who came from Italy 30ish years ago and started a restaurant here that he has been at ever since! It was delicious!
He says he loves India, but America would be his second choice of living places. He loves it here! The food was seriously delicious. It was SO nice to not eat curry for a change! I have to say I do love the curry and rice and vegetables every day but some of the curry dishes are just NOT my favorite...lets just say I probably won't eat much curry for a while once I get home. Also, I will be eating a hamburger when I get home. I didn't think I really ate that much meat but once you're forced onto a vegetarian diet, you just kind of want some meat. I guess it's just a desire of mine. Maybe only because I can't have it here. I'm not sure. We then went to this french bakery which was absolutely delightful! I got a little container of cookies that I brought back, so I have some for later this week! It will be a nice treat. I have been wanting a treat lately. After that, we took a rickshaw (I have no idea how it's supposed to be spelled) that took us through the french quarter and we saw all of the buildings and the French Consulate and some fun other buildings!
It was fun to see all of it even though it was SO dirty. I wouldn't dare buy something from there because of the sanitation that they don't have. I didn't think I was really a germs person until I came here and realized how much everything really needs to be washed and how you should wash your hands after you touch SO many different things! It was all in all a very fun day but very exhausting! I got some cute handmade elephant keychains that I really like! That was my only purchase of the day of souvenirs! I am excited to go to Mamallapuram this next weekend because hopefully I will be able to get a handmade pair of leather sandals! That is all I really want to bring home with me for me! Everything else can be given to other people!

Just a church that I thought was cool in the french part of town!
A school!
We had it drop us off at the bizarre. That was quite the adventure. It smelled...delicious.

They have lots of tiny shops with junk in them that they want you to buy. Then there is a little alleyway that we took to get inside of it and there were fruits and vegetables and flowers and spices of all kinds!
These tiny bananas are seriously my favorite. They taste different than big bananas and are delicious!
Market
Here are piles of flowers that they use to make necklaces of flowers, similar to leis.
